    About the Laboratory

The Institute of Multidisciplinary Ç×ÅóÆåÅÆ for Advanced Materials (IMRAM) aims to address major global challenges - including energy, resources, the environment, health, and food - through interdisciplinary research grounded in materials science and advanced measurement. A central focus is reducing dependence on fossil fuels by advancing chemistry-related innovations, such as improving the efficiency of energy generation and storage technologies and developing methods to convert biomass and waste plastics into fuels within a sustainable carbon cycle. At the same time, emerging issues - such as the large-scale disposal and recycling of solar panels and batteries - highlight the growing need to tackle interconnected energy and environmental challenges.

To meet these demands, IMRAM promotes research that transcends traditional disciplinary boundaries and has established a dedicated focus on energy conversion devices and processes. Its interdisciplinary approach enables the creation of novel materials and technologies with the potential to transform energy systems. Key areas of interest include environmentally friendly, high-performance solar cells and batteries, advanced hydrogen energy technologies, efficient fuel production from biomass and waste plastics, and innovative catalyst design, all supported by integration with computational and data science. The institute seeks researchers who can advance energy-related chemical research and contribute to building a sustainable society.
