Job Description
The successful candidate will research an area of Applied Linguistics (e.g., Neurolinguistics, Second Language Acquisition, Language Testing, Corpus Linguistics, etc.), based on their expertise.
In addition, they will be responsible for teaching courses at the graduate (courses related to the Division of Language Studies and the Department of Applied Linguistics) and undergraduate level (English (general education)) as part of their duties. They are expected to teach approximately five classes per year (e.g., three in the spring semester and two in the fall semester)
In principle, this is a four-year tenure-track appointment. A tenure review will be conducted by the end of the second year. Exceptionally qualified candidates may be granted tenure at the time of appointment. For details, please contact the Administration Office.

Qualifications
- Applicants must have a Ph.D. and be recognized as qualified to engage in education and research at the graduate level
- For Associate Professor: at least three years of university-level teaching experience as an Associate Professor, Lecturer, Assistant Professor, or Ç×ÅóÆåÅÆ Associate
- For Lecturer: at least one year of university-level teaching experience as a Lecturer, Assistant Professor, or Ç×ÅóÆåÅÆ Associate
- Outstanding international research record in a field related to applied linguistics
- Ability to teach the courses listed in the Job Description section, and participate in the International Graduate Program in Language Sciences (IGPLS), which is conducted entirely in English
- Applicants of any nationality are welcome, but they must be able to teach and conduct research in both Japanese and English

- Conference presentations (indicate domestic/international and regular/invited)

- Indicate whether each publication was peer-reviewed, and if applicable, provide quantitative indicators such as citation counts, journal impact factors, or Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI).
- Copies of all academic publications (PDFs, photocopies, or offprints are acceptable)
- Three major academic publications, marked with an asterisk in the list, each accompanied by a summary in Japanese (approximately 1,000 characters)
- Statements of Ç×ÅóÆåÅÆ and Teaching (Approximately 1-2 A4 pages each; to be written in Japanese)
- Ç×ÅóÆåÅÆ Vision Clearly describe the research themes and plans you intend to pursue in the future. Include your medium- to long-term research goals and prospects. If applicable, also mention any prior interdisciplinary initiatives or experiences in international collaborative research.
- Teaching Vision Describe your policy and goals regarding graduate-level education. Include the titles of graduate-level courses you could teach based on your area of expertise, as well as a description of your prior teaching experience (including supervision of graduate students) and teaching accomplishments.
- Course Syllabus (an A4 one-page plan, in either Japanese or English, outlining 15 sessions of a graduate-level course described in your Teaching Vision)
- Additional information/materials may be requested if necessary
